CheckAFirm Monitoring
A check tells you about today. Monitoring tells you about tomorrow.
Most of the damage happens after you have paid. Watch the firms that hold your money, your deposit or your contract, and get an email the day something changes on the public record.
Monitoring 5 firms · works out at £1.99 per firm
You choose which firms to watch after you subscribe, and you can swap them whenever you like. Cancel yourself at any time from your subscriber page, with no notice period and no cancellation fee.
One firm is £4.99 a month. Ten firms is £14.99, and a hundred is £49.99, because the more you watch the less each one costs.
What we watch for
We re-run the same checks behind our reports every day, compare them to what we saw last time, and email you only when something has actually changed. No change, no email.
It enters liquidation or administration
The single change most likely to cost you money, and the one you want to hear about on the day rather than when a payment bounces.
A proposal to strike it off is filed
The company is on its way to being dissolved. Once it is, it cannot be pursued for defective work and any guarantee it gave is worthless.
A director resigns or a new one is appointed
The people you agreed to work with may no longer be the people running the company.
It registers a new charge
Someone has taken security over the company's assets. It can be ordinary borrowing, or it can be a sign of pressure.
Its accounts or confirmation statement go overdue
Late filing is the earliest visible symptom of a company that has stopped keeping on top of things.
It changes its name or registered office
Not sinister on its own, but worth knowing about a firm holding your deposit.
What monitoring is not
It watches the public record, so it can only tell you what Companies House publishes, and only once they publish it. It is not a credit score, it is not a guarantee, and it cannot see a firm getting into trouble before that trouble reaches the register. Absence of an alert is not proof that all is well.
